Speakers:
Dan MacLeod MS CPE, Dan MacLeod LLC
Topic: "Before and After Measurements of Ergonomic Successes" PLUS an update on ergonomics in China from Dan's consultation there
Dan MacLeod was one of the early practitioners in workplace ergonomics, dating back to the mid-1970s when he worked for the Health and Safety Department of the United Auto Workers in Detroit. In that capacity, he:
- Was instrumental in recognizing that carpal tunnel syndrome was a common workplace disorder
- Instituted the first shop floor ergo projects in the industry
- Authored the first lay language training booklet on ergonomics (1982).
In the 1980s he worked extensively in the meatpacking industry and represented the American Meat Institute in working with OSHA to develop the landmark Meatpacking Ergonomics Guidelines. Dan continues to work with many companies in a wide variety of industries. A current major project is with Lockheed-Martin, helping set up the production lines for the new F-35 stealth fighter in Ft. Worth, TX, and Palmdale, CA. Dan is multi-lingual and has broad international consulting experience. Dan has a NIOSH/BIR grant to develop a web site of practical ergonomic solutions.
Roy Viola, Esq. and Bob Baum Esq., McGiveny and Kluger, P. C.
Topic: "Due Diligence and Common Sense Can Reduce Exposure to Product Litigation"
Roy Viola has been a trial attorney for his entire career, covering the better part of two decades. He practices in the areas of toxic torts, construction defect, insurance defense, silica, and general liability matters. He has specialized in areas of toxic chemical exposure, mold, asbestos, and lead paints; Roy also does a significant amount of work in the area of environmental exposure, pollution and landfill litigation.
Bob Baum is an experienced civil litigator who has tried more than 100 cases in State and New Jersey Federal District Court including the argument of cases before the Appellate Division, involving a wide range of legal issues, including medical malpractice, damages only serious injury cases, CEPA, LAD, products liability, premises liability, construction defect, and breach of contract cases. He has prepared and participated in numerous "Mock Trials" to assist clients in risk control and in the understanding of the judicial process.

NEED AN ETHICS COURSE?
The Rocky Mountain Center for Occupational and Environmental Health at the University of Utah has developed and obtained ABIH CM points for an online Professional Ethics and the Practice of Industrial hygiene course. The course is designed to provide an introduction to the ethics underlying professional industrial hygiene practice and meet the ABIH two-hour requirement for ethics. This course is available and can be taken at any time.
