Topic: Perspectives on the Impact to OSHA by Current Events OSHA has been impacted by the deregulatory initiatives from the White House, DOGE cuts in personnel and furloughs, but the agency continues its work – with some twists. This session will explore the new OSHA initiatives, NEP changes, enforcement changes, modifications to VPP, the impact of SCOTUS decisions and more. Get the forecast on how changes may impact EHS practice and worker protections! Speaker: Adele L. Abrams, Esq., ASP, CMSP Adele L. Abrams, Esq., ASP, CMSP, is an attorney, safety professional and trainer who is senior counsel with Littler Mendelson PC in Washington, DC, a national firm focusing on safety, health and employment law. Adele is an ASP and certified mine safety professional and she also provides consultation, safety audits and training services. Adele is co-author of several books related to mining, construction, employment law, and occupational safety and health. She is a member of multiple state bars and federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court. She is a graduate of the George Washington University’s National Law Center. Her professional memberships include the American Society of Safety Professionals, and National Safety Council, and in 2017, she received the NSC’s Distinguished Service to Safety Award. Topic: Effective Communication and Impactful Storytelling This presentation will empower OEHS professionals with advanced communication skills tailored to today’s dynamic and diverse work environments. We will explore the art of storytelling, drawing on scientific research. By leveraging stories, we can capture attention, evoke emotions, and ensure that our messages resonate on a deeper level. Listeners will learn techniques such as purposeful pauses, body language, and using the “why” to make their communication impactful and memorable. The presentation will provide practical tools and strategies that can be immediately applied to enhance influence, foster collaboration, and elevate the value of the OEHS profession. Speaker: Miriam Koesterich, MS, CIH, CSP Miriam Koesterich Sinha, MS, CIH, CSP holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Hygiene and Environmental Toxicology and a Master of Science in Environmental Health Science. She has over 15 years of experience in the health, safety, wellbeing, and environmental (HSWE) field and over 13 years as an EHS trainer. As a formally trained instructor, Miriam has nearly seven years serving as a Bowen EHS instructor and was a certified trainer for behavior based safety. Throughout her career, she has delivered over 100 EHS related training sessions to diverse audiences, including managers, peers, maintenance personnel, union members, construction workers, manufacturing employees, and more.Preregistration is appreciated so we can give an accurate headcount to the venue.
