October 2020 – President’s Message

Greetings from the New Jersey Section of the AIHA. I hope this message finds you well in these trying times.

I know it has been awhile since you have heard from us and for that I am sorry.  We’ve been working hard to obtain virtual presenters to resume our monthly meetings.  On that front, I am happy to let you know that Nicole Greeson, MS, CIH (the current treasurer of national AIHA) will be presenting for us on November 19th on the decontamination of N95s.  More to come on that, so be on the look out for that meeting invite as we get closer.

In the meantime, if you are looking for credits, ACGIH is offering a free credit hour during their virtual annual meeting this Thursday, October 15th from 11:30am – 1:00pm.  The Annual Meeting will include presentations by ACGIH® Board Chair COL(Ret.) Mary S. Lopez, PhD, CPE, Treasurer Nancy E. Wilk, MHSc, CIH, and recognition of the 2020 ACGIH® Award Winners. The meeting will also feature a keynote presentation by 2020 Herbert Stokinger Award winner Dr. Robert Landsiedel who will provide a lecture on his field of expertise in experimental toxicology and ecology.  For more information and to register, click the link below.

If you have a topic you are willing to give a 1-1.5 hour presentation on, please email me at dpreisler@kleinfelder.com as are looking to build up a backlog of virtual presentations.

As for an NJAIHA update, we are in the process of sending out ballots for the President Elect, and Secretary positions of our local NJAIHA board.  Please be on the look out for those and take the time to vote!  We still have an opening as well for Outreach Coordinator, which is an appointed position.  If you are interested in getting involved locally this is a great place to start, trying to build community awareness and youth involvement in the field of industrial hygiene.

I hope we can all get back together having our in person meetings soon, but until then lets continue to communicate and build our IH networks virtually!

Sincerely,
Daniel Preisler, CIH
President NJAIHA
