March 2020 – President’s Message

Fellow NJAIHA members,

Greetings from the New Jersey Section of the AIHA.

There is a lot happening in the world and, crucially right here at home.

It’s all about COVID-19. Companies have issued travel restrictions and self-quarantine if you travel by airline. Companies are encouraging their employees to work at home if possible. More importantly, if you are sick, STAY HOME! New Jersey has recommended gatherings of 250 or more be cancelled until further notice. At NJAIHA, we have taken the precaution of postponing our March Dinner Meeting in concern over our member’s health.

We have an exciting opening for President elect and need applicants. As President-elect, you will select speaker talks for the Dinner Meetings which is an interesting process.

We also need an outreach coordinator for our local NJAIHA board. If interested send an email to myself at svanetten@emsl.com or Dan Preisler at dpreisler@kleinfelder.com. This is the time to get involved locally.

We would welcome a pandemic preparedness presentation at one of our dinner meetings. If interested let Dan or myself know. You can email Dan to schedule your presentation. We are also looking for PDC presenters for our December conference. If interested, let me know. We would like to have a 3-3.5 hour PDC with one or multiple speakers. The date is tentatively December 3rd, 2020.

So far, the national AIHce conference in Atlanta on June 1-3, 2020 is scheduled to happen. Please keep up with announcements using Catalyst or visit their website at www.aiha.org. If things change, we will send out the info by emails.

Let 2020 be a great year for Industrial Hygiene. I hope to see you at the dinner meetings.

Sincerely,
Scott VanEtten, CIH
President NJAIHA
