Topic: How to Manage & Reinvent an Industrial Hygiene Career
Speaker: Marianne Santarell, CIH, CSP
Marianne Santarelli has over 38 years of experience in Safety, Occupational Health, and Environmental Management in the United States and internationally. Her experiences and certifications to date are diverse; an experienced Environmental, Health and Safety professional, she is a Certified Industrial Hygienist and Certified Safety Professional. Marianne has a comprehensive skillset, a strong commitment to OHS&E excellence and progressive functional managerial experience with a specialization in the arena of Global EH&S Management Systems. Her technical proficiencies lie in industrial hygiene, safety and environmental disciplines, regulatory compliance analyses, product EH&S program development, permitting, training, ergonomics, EH&S audit and gap analysis, corrective action development, risk management analysis, workers compensation claims management and wellness programs and construction EH&S within a multitude of work environments.
She is currently the owner of her own comprehensive consulting firm where she specializes in Risk Management, Owner representation, Regulatory affairs, and complex technical projects. She was previously the Global Director of Environmental, Health and Safety at LSI/Agere Systems/Lucent Technologies (formerly ATT Bell Laboratories).  She has held positions within the private and public sector, including Senior Risk Manager for the Port Authority of New York/New Jersey with her main focus on risk management for the World Trade Center Redevelopment Project and all Port authority Operations, the Vice President for Loss Control and Safety for Silverstein Properties in New York.  She was also the Safety Director for Gilbane Building Company’s New York division, where she overhauled the entire Safety and Health Program and worked with project teams to develop customized and project-specific safety plans, align, and engage subcontractors with the company’s safety focus, identify key safety challenges and develop and implement strategic plans to mitigate these risks throughout the life of the project.  She has also held positions as the Technical Director for a EH&S Consulting firm and senior Industrial Hygienist and Manager with the Department of the Army and OSHA.
