As a landscape designer/planner, safety measures and problem-solving are major considerations in the remaking of outdoor space. Topic: When the Sampler-Becomes the Source: Preventing PFAS Cross Contamination This session examines how common materials and personal products used during sampling can unintentionally introduce PFAS into environmental samples. It outlines the risks this poses to data quality and decision-making, and reviews practical measures—such as selecting PFAS-free equipment, appropriate protective clothing, careful field practices, and the use of quality control samples—to reduce or eliminate cross contamination. Speaker: Kimberli Harris, CIH, CSP, ARM Kimberli Harris began her career as a chemist. She later transitioned into safety and industrial hygiene.
